Does hay-fever make your Summer a misery? Do you dread hot sunny days? You’re not alone. Hay-fever is on the rise: Experts believe that 20-25% of people now suffer. A century ago, this figure was closer to 3%.
We may still be in the depths of Winter, but Spring is just around the corner – believe it or not! – and with it, the torment of hay-fever. NOW is the time to start doing something about it. Yes! There ARE steps you can take which may help.
Like immunotherapy – and working on a similar theory – Totally Holistic Health Hay Fever Clinics start around this time every year. This is the ideal time to prevent or alleviate the annual agony – before it begins. We all know there’s no cure for hay fever, and conventional treatments can only treat the symptoms, not the cause. Not everyone wants to pop antihistamine pills all Summer. Not everyone finds they work.
Using Kinesiology techniques, Hay-Fever Clinic aims to identify the person’s specific allergen, before hay-fever season begins, then work to successfully alleviate those dreaded summer symptoms. Kinesiology is rather like talking and listening to the body – by discovering what the allergen is, we can build strength in the area of the body affected. Many patients have found these techniques to be incredibly effective.
Usually fiercest from March through to September, when the pollen count is high, hay-fever symptoms can even persist all year. Simply, hay fever is when the immune system overreacts to airborne allergens. Also known as allergic Rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal lining) it affects the nose and respiratory system. Often perceived as a relatively trivial condition, in fact hay-fever can make life a misery, bringing a combination of painful and debilitating symptoms, including:
- Sneezing and coughing
- Runny nose
- Blocked nose and congestion
- Itching
- Excess mucous to the back of the throat
- Inflamed, sore and irritated eyes itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears
- Loss of sense of smell
- Sinus problems
- Headache or pain around temples
- Earache
- Tiredness
And that’s on top of the general frustration of not being able to enjoy your summer; to do things which other people take for granted.
As well as kinesiology with Hay Fever Clinic, there are other things which may help to ease symptoms when the pollen count is high. After all, nobody wants to stay indoors all Summer:
- apply Vaseline to nostrils, to trap pollen
- eat local honey – contact your local bee keeper for your supplies!
- wraparound sunglasses can protect eyes from pollen
- shower and change regularly
- vacuum the home regularly and damp dust
- use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter
- buy a pollen filter for the car
- avoid having fresh flowers
- don’t smoke
- don’t dry clothes outside
Have a great Summer this year, enjoy the sun, get out and about. Say goodbye to sniffles and inflamed eyes. Make this the year to tackle the hay fever the Totally Holistic way – book your Hay Fever Clinic appointment now.
